The St. Bonaventure University men’s basketball team travels to the Robins Center on Saturday to take on Richmond University, with both teams riding two-game losing streaks.
The Spiders defeated the Bonnies 89-80 on Jan. 7. Both teams had five players reach double figures. Richmond graduate guard Will Johnston led all players with 24 points.
The Bonnies (14-12, 3-10 A-10) have lost four of their last five games. They fell to Saint Joseph’s University 71-65 on Wednesday. They led with five minutes left, and it marked the second time this season they lost after leading at halftime.
Bonnies head coach Mark Schmidt talked about his team’s late game collapses.
Schmidt said, “I think there’s been eight, nine games where we’ve had the lead and we just can’t make plays, and the other teams making plays and we break down.”
The Spiders (14-13, 4-10 A-10) enter the matchup following a 65-63 loss to Davidson University and have dropped eight of their last 10 games. Graduate guard AJ Lopez leads Richmond in scoring. He has scored 14 or more points in six of his last seven games.
