PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The St. Bonaventure University men’s basketball team remains winless in Atlantic 10 Conference play following a 68-64 defeat to Saint Joseph’s University on Wednesday night at Michael J. Hagan Arena.

St. Bonaventure senior forward Frank Mitchell led the Bonnies with 22 points and eight rebounds. Saint Joseph’s sophomore guard Jaiden Glover-Toscano led all scorers with 23 points, while Hawks redshirt sophomore Dasear Haskins grabbed a team-high 11 rebounds.

Following the loss, Bonnies associate head coach Sean Neal addressed the final minutes of the game.

“Anytime you’re on the road, and you need [defensive] stops late, you can’t hope they miss,” Neal said. “You have to force them to miss in late-game situations, and I think that is something we will clean up for sure.”

Through nearly the opening eight minutes, the Hawks led 20-9 with nine points coming from Haskins.

St. Bonaventure then outscored the Hawks 12-5 over the next six and a half minutes, with all of the Bonnies’ points coming from Mitchell, cutting its deficit to 25-21.

At halftime, the Hawks held a 35-28 advantage.

Coming out of halftime, Saint Joseph’s scored six of the first eight points to enlarge its lead to 41-30.

The Bonnies proceeded to go on a 13-1 run during the next five minutes and took the lead 43-42 with 12:51 remaining.

Less than two minutes later, St. Bonaventure started another run. The Bonnies scored the next 11 points, nine of which came from junior guard Darryl “Buddy” Simmons, raising their advantage to 54-47.

With 2:35 remaining in the second half, the Bonnies led 64-60. Glover-Toscano’s layup gave the Hawks the lead with 33 seconds left, and the Hawks closed the game on an 8-0 run.

The Bonnies drop to 11-6 (0-3, A-10), while the Hawks move to 11-7 (3-2, A-10).
