OLEAN, N.Y. — The St. Bonaventure Bonnies defeated Misericordia University, 5–2, on Sunday at the William O. Smith Recreation Center in Olean. The victory marks the Bonnies’ fourth straight win.

St. Bonaventure improves to 6-2 on the season, while Misericordia falls to 7-6. Both teams compete in the American Collegiate Hockey Association’s Division II conference.

Misericordia forward Brendan Johnson opened the scoring with a power-play goal early in the first period. The Bonnies responded with three straight goals from Sam Renaud, Cole Bailey and Michael Clouden to take a 3-1 lead into the first intermission.

In the second period, Clouden netted his second goal of the game, assisted by Bailey and captain Tyler Menz. Declan McDonald scored for the Cougars to make it 4-2 in a physical, penalty-filled frame that featured two embellishment calls.

The third period remained scoreless until Clouden completed his hat trick with an empty-net goal, sealing the Bonnies’ 5-2 win over the Cougars.

With Sunday’s victory, St. Bonaventure completed a perfect weekend, following two straight wins over West Virginia on Friday and Saturday. The Bonnies return to action Oct. 31 for a rematch against the University at Buffalo at the Northtown Center in Buffalo.
