ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. — The Bonnies and Flyers traded goals in a back-and-forth battle that ended in a 2-2 draw Saturday.
Dayton struck first in the 10th minute when redshirt senior Ethan Sassine scored off an assist from junior Braden Seel. The Bonnies responded with steady offensive pressure for the rest of the half.
St. Bonaventure equalized in the 36th minute when junior Kyle MacFarlane buried a penalty kick after a foul in the box. Both teams traded fouls and corner kicks late in the half, while Bonnies freshman goalkeeper Felix Schöne made key saves to keep the match tied at 1-1 heading into halftime.
The Bonnies took the lead in the 54th minute when senior Avery Dreasky scored following a series of corner kicks.
Dayton answered in the 66th minute when Seel scored his second point of the night, finishing a play assisted by junior Felix Buabeng to make it 2-2.
Neither side could break through in the final stretch, and the match ended in a draw. St. Bonaventure moves to 3-7-3 (1-3-2 A-10), while Dayton sits at 4-2-7 (2-1-3 A-10).
St. Bonaventure returns to action on Oct. 25 at 6 p.m. against La Salle for Senior Night.
