Recently, Disney has been producing movies and TV series that have not all been successful or appealing to the fans. After what seemed like the ending point for some iconic franchises, the writers keep trying to come up with storylines that somehow make sense to the audience. Some of these extra inclusions are Toy Story 5 and Frozen 3. Some of the new movies and TV shows have flopped due to their unoriginality. The question remains, will Disney studios create a new movie that will keep the fans wanting more, or will they just not watch it because the main characters are gone?
Take Toy Story for an example. In Toy Story 3, everyone thought they should end it there because Andy had left, and all of the toys were handed over to Bonnie. So, when Toy Story 4 came out, it was an interesting continuation due to the focus shifting from our original lovable toys to this plastic spork named Forky. Also, they reunited Woody and Bo Peep while Woody was rescuing Forky to return him to Bonnie. The movie ended in a bittersweet way where Woody left with Bo Peep to discover what it means to live in the real world. When Disney announced a fifth movie to this already heartwarming franchise, I was hesitant due to the lack of clarity on what direction they will go. Toy Story is one of Disney’s successful franchises, which is why many people will be judging the new movie when it comes out.

Another example of an unknown direction for a movie is Frozen 3. In Frozen 2, Anna became the queen of Arendelle while Elsa stayed behind in the Enchanted Forest. Now, there have been several theories back and forth on whether Elsa died when she was frozen at the bottom of the river she jumped into. However, the new movie will hopefully give us some more clarity on the subject. Frozen 2 had great ratings, but how will the third movie top it? Some believe Frozen 2 is better than the original. While saying this is a bold statement, I am not sure how Disney will top this already top-rated movie and continue to drop good songs like “Into the unknown” by Idina Menzel.
These stories have captured audiences around the world. They continue to capture everyone’s attention with their heart-warming themes of sisterhood, family, friendship and growing up. Now that everyone has their eyes set upon these successful movies, how long can they grasp their attention without going too far. Disney may be creating and producing a ton of movies, but are they good? If people keep producing movies or series or a continuation of a popular franchise, they need to keep in mind the point of view of the fans. If the fans do not enjoy the film, then Disney will lose money, and that series will lose interest.
