ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – St. Bonaventure University defeated Robert Morris University 75-61 Thursday night at the Reilly Center.

The Bonnies opened the game on a 12-0 run to take an early lead. The Colonials scored seven unanswered points of their own five minutes into the game, cutting Bonaventure’s lead to five. 

Over the next 13 minutes, both teams traded baskets and scored 21 points each. 

The first half ended with the Bonnies on top 37-33. Bonaventure senior forward Frank Mitchell ended the half with nine points and eight rebounds. Robert Morris sophomore forward Josh Hill led all scorers in the first half with 13 points.  

Both teams traded points in the first 10 minutes of the second half. The Bonnies pushed their lead to nine with help from Mitchell, who scored six points during that span. 

At the 9-minute mark, the Colonials made a push with a 6-0 run. Bonaventure answered with a 20-9 run to end the game. 

The Bonnies improved to 5-0, while Robert Morris fell to 3-2. 

Mitchell recorded another double-double, with 19 points and 16 rebounds. Hill finished with 19 points. Bonaventure had four players record over 10 points, including Darryl Simmons II, who had 16. 

The Bonnies face the University of North Carolina on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Fort Myers Tip Off in Florida. Robert Morris travels to Monmouth University on Sunday. Bonaventure’s game will air on FS1 and WSBU 88.3 FM, “The Buzz.”
