The St. Bonaventure women’s soccer team hosted the George Washington Revolutionaries for an A-10 conference matchup at the Marra Athletics Complex on Sunday afternoon. The Bonnies started the game well, but the Revolutionaries offense would quickly heat up, leading to a 3-2 win for George Washington.
The Bonnies scored quickly, as graduate defender, Paula Sanabria Diaz, gave the team a 1-0 lead in the 5th minute of the game. However, the Revolutionaries would respond on offense, as sophomore defender, Julia Bilal tied the game in the 18th minute. Three minutes later, graduate midfielder, Elizabeth Cruz, would take the lead for George Washington.
The Revolutionaries would end the first half with 7 shots, and the Bonnies would end with three.
George Washington kept up the pressure in the second half, as freshman forward Naomi Kim gave the team a 2-goal lead. The Bonnies had trouble finding scoring chances, as they only had 4 shots in the second half, compared to seven from the Revolutionaries. Bonaventure tried to get back in the game, as senior defender Hannah Walker found the back of the net in the 84th minute, but it wouldn’t be enough to make the comeback.
Bonaventure falls to 3-8-2 and 0-5 in the conference. With the win, the Revolutionaries improved to 4-6-3 and 1-4 in the conference.
The Bonnies will look for a better result next Sunday, when they travel to Fordham to take on the Rams. George Washingtons next matchup is a home game against La Salle, next Saturday. Both games can be streamed on ESPN+
