This week in music news, Kayne West and Ty Dolla $ign dropped a duo album called VULTURES 1. The album consists of fifty-six minutes of play time over sixteen songs. The duo will have parts two and three releasing at later dates.
There is only one other person who is featured on the album with them, and she isn’t even a musician. “TALKING,” the fourth track on the album, features North West. North is Kanye’s ten-year-old daughter. I think that this is my second favorite song on the album because of her feature.
When I listen to music, I don’t listen to it for the lyrics; although sometimes they catch me and get stuck in my head all day. My favorite song on the album is “CARNIVAL.” I like how the background music flows well with the lyrics in this song. The lyrics are not the most appropriate to listen to, in the sense of if you were in the car with your grandmother. Although, if you are with the homies going on a late-night drive, that is another story. Based on all the TikTok videos I have seen about this song, I don’t think I am the only person who thinks this song is good.
The worst song on the album has to be “HOODRAT.” For the first thirty-six seconds of the song, he just repeats the word “hoodrat.” He then goes into another verse, but then goes back to the worst verse of the album.
One of the most underrated songs on the album is “BEG FORGIVENESS.” This is the thirteenth track on the album. This is the longest song on the album, and I think because of that it doesn’t get the love it deserves. I really enjoy how it feels less like a rap song. It feels like a pop song with a rap verse.
