The Houston Texans are currently 2nd in the AFC South standings with 7 wins and 5 losses, the most recent win coming from their game against the Broncos Sunday (22-17).
The Texans may not be the best with statistics for the overall standings, but when you look in-depth at the players’ stats, you realize that the Texans not only have great players, but together are the best team in the league right now.
Their quarterback, CJ Stroud, is a rookie straight out of Ohio State University. In his first year, he has 3,266 total yards, 19 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. This is only his 13th week in the NFL.
One of their running backs, Devin Singletary, was previously with the Buffalo Bills from 2019-2022. Including his Bills stats, he has a total of 3,640 yards and 18 career touchdowns. Singletary also won the AFC’s offensive player of the week title for Week 10.
One of their wide receivers, Nico Collins, has been with the team since 2021. During his career, he has 1,918 total yards and nine touchdowns. Collins has 991 yards for the 2023 season alone as well as 6 touchdowns.
Another one of their wide receivers, Tank Dell, is also a rookie. Fans of the Texans, and just NFL fans in general, have noticed the connection that Dell and Stroud have on and off the field. Although Dell is out for the rest of the season due to a fractured fibula that was obtained during Sunday’s game, he has some pretty strong statistics for a rookie. He has a total of 709 yards and seven touchdowns.
Another fellow Ohio State alum on the team and a wide receiver, Noah Brown, was with the Dallas Cowboys from 2017-2022. Even though Brown wasn’t playing in Sunday’s game due to a knee injury he received from the Bengals game back on Nov. 12, he also has some serious stats: 1,419 total yards and four touchdowns, with those four coming in the past two years.
As you can see, the Texans have a dream team. With players from different teams, as well as a bunch of rookies, the individual statistics are undeniably there. Each week, the team gets better and better by working together.
The overall statistics for the team might not be perfect, but Singletary, Stroud, Brown, Dell and Collins prove that the team is powerful. The other offensive players, as well as the defensive, pack a punch to every opponent they face and prove that they are the best team in the NFL.
