ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. — The St. Bonaventure men’s basketball team looks to end its three-game losing streak when they host the University of Rhode Island Thursday evening at the Reilly Center.
The Bonnies (14-13, 3-11 A-10) lost to the University of Richmond 99-94. Despite the loss, it was their highest scoring game of the season. Junior guard Buddy Simmons II scored 30 points.
The game marked another tight loss for Bonaventure. Their last five losses have been decided by six points or less.
The Rams (15-12, 6-8 A-10) handed Saint Louis University its second loss of the season last Tuesday before falling to La Salle University (8-20, 4-11 A-10) on Saturday.
The loss to the Explorers marked Rhode Island’s lowest scoring game of the season. They scored 46 points.
The Bonnies will face a familiar opponent in redshirt junior guard Jonah Hinton, who played at Bonaventure last season. Hinton averaged 8.2 points per game with the Bonnies and is averaging 13.9 this season with the Rams.
Graduate guard Tyler Cochran, who recorded 20 or more points in three of his last five games, leads the Rams.
Thursday’s matchup was originally scheduled for Wednesday night but was postponed because of inclement weather that affected Rhode Island’s travel.
