Buzz Bets by Bryce: Week 7

Hello! Welcome back to my blog where I discuss my five favorite football bets of the week. Let’s start with a recap of last week’s picks.

Recap:

Bills-5.5 vs. Titans

This was the most disappointing game for several reasons. One was because they neither covered nor won. The Bills lost a heartbreaker 34-31 as Josh Allen couldn’t covert a 4th and 1 run in the endzone. This was a disappointing game betting-wise because I should have seen this coming. That is always easy to say in hindsight however I have my reasons. One reason is Derrick Henry. He is a freak and has been on a tear recently. Henry has had five straight 100-yard rushing games. Henry kept the Titans’ offense moving. Another reason is the Titans lately have been a bad matchup for the Bills. The Bills got smoked by the Titans in the regular season last year 42-16. The Titans match up well vs. the Bills.

Chargers+2.5 vs. Ravens

This was my worst loss of last week. I thought the Ravens were a bit fraudulent with some of their close calls so far in the season. The Chargers were 4-1 and looking like the stronger team. The Ravens came out and kicked the Chargers’ ass 34-6. What was impressive was the Ravens’ pass defense. The Ravens’ pass defense was ranked 28th before this matchup. However, they stepped up and held Chargers’ QB Justin Herbert to 195 yards passing and 1 touchdown and 1 interception. This was an impressive win and will give me second thoughts if I bet against them soon.

Kansas City-7 vs. Washington

This game played out like I thought it would. However, in the first half it didn’t seem like it would. Kansas City’s offense was sluggish and they were down 13-10 at halftime to Washington. Then the KC offense kicked in and the Chiefs cruised to a 31-13 victory. What was encouraging was the shoutout the Chiefs defense pitched in the second half. If the Chiefs’ defense can step up then they could be a real menace in the AFC. But Washington’s offense is nothing to write home about so I’m going to pump the breaks.

Dallas-3 vs. New England

This was a fantastic game. Dak Prescott was phenomenal. The Cowboys’ quarterback threw for 446 yards and 3 touchdowns with 1 interception. Mac Jones was solid, throwing for 229 yards, 1 touchdown and 1 interception. In the end, the better Cowboy’s powerful offense struck in overtime and the Cowboys won 35-29. I would take the Cowboys again because they are 6-0 versus the spread! Too bad they are on a bye.

Arizona+3.5 vs. Cleveland

This was the easiest cover of my picks. Arizona dominated 37-14 as Kyler Murray was uber- efficient. Murray threw for 229 yards and 3 touchdowns. The Cardinals continue to show their high-powered offense is tough for any team to compete with.

Picks:

Green Bay-8.5 vs. Washington

Green Bay has been cooking like a nice cast iron skillet since after week one. They have won five in a row and Aaron Rodgers is locked in. Rodgers and the Packers are 16-2 at home since 2019. Washington is ranked last in points allowed so far. Simply put: Rodgers will score too much for Washington to keep it close. Give me the Packers.

New England-7 vs. Jets

New England isn’t great and won’t make the playoffs. They do have a hall of fame coach and play hard. The Jets are bad as they can’t score. They’ve scored over 20 points once. Give me the Pats after an encouraging game against the Cowboys. Did I mention these teams already played? The Patriots won easily 25-6. Don’t overthink this.

Carolina-3 vs. Giants

The Giants suck. Their line can’t block and Daniel Jones is more meme than quarterback. The Giants are also missing all of their key skill players as Saquon Barkley, Kenny Golladay and Kadarius Toney will be out. Give me Carolina to win this one easily.

Las Vegas-2.5 vs. Philadelphia

The Eagles have a weak pass rush and a lackluster offense. Despite the Raiders’ turmoil of late, I like Vegas to cover as I like their offense better. I’m not a big fan of Jalen Hurts and will easily pick against him. Hopefully this isn’t the week he proves me wrong.

New Orleans-4 vs. Seattle

This was my hardest pick of these five. Geno Smith has looked decent in his recent playing time. However, I like the Saints defense to frustrate Smith and force him into some mistakes. As long as Jameis Winston doesn’t try and do too much I’ve got the Saints covering.

Last Word:

One event I am excited for is the US Grand Prix in Austin, Texas for Formula One. Circuit of the Americas is a great track and it should be a great race. Only six points separate title contenders Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton. I like Verstappen to win at Austin at +135 odds. Verstappen is in the better car and should win from pole position. Enjoy and best of luck everyone!
